Green Woodpecker

As I approached the 'Big Hedge' area this morning I could hear a bird calling that sounded like a Green Woodpecker, but rather subdued.  I wasn't sure at first, but gradually as it kept calling from the hillside, I decided that's what it was, and then, scanning, picked it up perched in a hawthorn near the top of the hill.  I took a few distant shots from the footpath and then decided to go round the back of the willow triangle to see if a) it would stay, and b) I could get a bit closer.

Fortunately it stayed as I approached, but from the angle I was coming from it was more obscured in the tree.  At one point I managed to get some photos through a gap in the branches, but then it flew, circling round above my head and off over the caravan site towards Rakewood.
