Red-necked Grebe, Pink-footed Goose, Greater Scaup

Had a trip out with Stu this morning to see the Red-necked Grebe at Leeshaw Reservoir. We did see the bird but in very poor light conditions and quite distantly.  Moreover, as we tried to approach for a closer look, the bird decided to swim off to the far side of the res, and eventually out of view. Not entirely satisfactory, but we did see it.

After this we stopped at the side of the road to scan through a few Greylag and Canada Geese by the roadside and found a PInkfoot.  Then on to Cromwell Bottom where there had been a party of 4 Greater Scaup, including a first-winter male.  It took some time for us to find the right spot, virtually circumnavigating the entire lake, but eventually we got to see them.  Again they were across the far side of the lake, in very dull conditions, so the attached pic below is the best I could do.

One day soon I'll take some decent photos!
