Various insects around the lake, Red Kite over garden in afternoon

Had a pleasant walk around in the sunshine this morning - few birds of interest; a couple of Grey Wagtails from the hide, but managed a few moths and butterflies (and other insects).  A Yellow Shell was nice, disturbed from the path behind the Sea Cadets hut, and a number of Ringlets were about.

Not long after arriving home, spotted a raptor soaring over Smithy Bridge from the kitchen window. After getting the bins on it, realised it was a Red Kite.  In the space of a couple of minutes, it drifted towards the house, eventually soaring directly above the garden before moving off to the south.
