Red Kite, 2 Tufted Ducks, 1 m. Goosander
Overnight snow, some snow flurries, 2°C. Walked around in the slush this morning with little to show for it. Only two drake Tufteds were present from yesterday's party, and hardly any small birds, though a few Wrens could be seen searching for food in the undergrowth.
The afternoon walk was a little brighter, but wasn't looking too interesting until I reached the path between Bib Knowl and the Scout Hut, when I noticed a large raptor fairly high up heading over the lake. It was already going away from me and between the trees, but once the bins were on it, it was obviously a Red Kite. Unfortunately it continued on before I could get the camera on it, and disappeared NE, heading towards Ealees Valley. No sign of it when I got further round into some open area, but the two Tufted Ducks were still present, and a drake Goosander was just off the reserve.
Later on in the garden, four Long-tailed Tits visited the feeders briefly.
