Water Rail

Very rainy this morning; had to put the waterproofs on, but wanted to try out the new camera gear.  Unfortunately most of the time it stayed in the backpack, and very few birds were about.  However, I did get great views of the Water Rail in its usual ditch; it was out in the open for about 10 seconds, giving excellent views through the bins, but I knew if I tried to get the camera out it would quickly disappear. As it turned out, it soon went into cover anyway.

A Chaffinch fed on the ground in Pavilion Wood, giving me chance to try out the camera, but it was rather distant and dull, so not the most convincing of results.

Precious little else about; spent a bit of time messing in the garden with the camera.  Photographed a Blackbird in the shade at 20000 ISO, which didn't turn out too badly considering (once noise reduction had been applied). A distant Greenfinch didn't turn out too well.
