Pink-footed Geese, drake Goldeneye and Mediterranean Gull

Fairly quiet this morning after yesterday's excesses, with little to report apart from a Grey Wagtail on the stony water's edge and two Shoveler flying over at some height.  A party of a dozen or so Long-tailed Tits were in the willow triangle.  As I reached the reserve, I thought I heard a strange goose call and looked up to see a skein of several hundred Pinkfeet flying west.  As they disappeared into the distance, I managed to get some poor quality footage, but sufficient to be able to get a reasonably accurate count - around 187.

Not much from the hide, so carried on and flushed a drake Goldeneye from close to the path just a few yards further on.  It flew out to open water and performed reasonably well for a while.  I walked up past Turnough Farm and down to Shaw Moss but the weather closed in and there was little else of note.

At 15:47 Simon posted a WhatsApp message to say there was a female Common Scoter at the Lake so I walked to the Rowing Club car park to have a look.  I couldn't find the Scoter, but scanning through the gulls found an adult winter Med Gull.  I posted it on the group but then had to move my tripod and lost the bird, and when Simon appeared unfortunately neither of us could relocate it before the light faded.
