Hudsonian Godwit, Kingfisher, Siskins, Black-tailed Godwits, Slavonian Grebes, Red-throated Diver

Exeter, River Exe: Kingfisher, 3 Siskins, 13 Black-tailed Godwits, Hudsonian Godwit: Generally darker than Black-tailed Godwit. About the same size, but bill more slender and upturned. Bright white supercilium from bill to just behind eye. Wing:tail ratio longer than Black-tailed. Upperparts similar but darker and more brownish. Underparts, grey-brown throat and breast. Off-white belly with occasional darker smudges. Dark streaks on undertail coverts and lower flanks. In flight, upperwing showed much less white than Black-tailed Godwit. Underwing coverts neat sooty-grey. Flight feathers paler grey, not white as in Black-tailed.
