Bittern, Marsh Harriers, Hen Harrier, 2 Great White Egrets, Little Egrets, Pinkfeet, Whooper & Bewick's Swans, Black-tailed Godwits, Golden Plover, Peregrines
Had a day out on the Wirral coast with Stu; arrived at Burton Marsh early while it was just coming light, and soon there were large numbers (c. 10,000) of Pinkfeet going overhead inland off the marshes. Several Little Egrets and 2 Great White Egrets were visible on the marsh, along with a couple of Marsh Harriers. We worked our way up to Parkgate where large numbers of waders were visible, including Black-tailed Godwits. A ringtail Hen Harrier went past distantly, and two different Peregrines were perched up distantly out on the marsh. As we had our lunch, a Bittern suddenly flew past, giving great views, but the camera wasn't to hand unfortunately.
After this we went to Shotwick Lake, where a Black Redstart had been seen around the solar panels area; we may have seen it distantly, but not 100% sure. However there was a party of Mute Swans in a field nearby, accompanied by three Whoopers and a Bewick's (and several Black Swans!).
