Little Egret
Still very quiet on the bird front, I was bemoaning to myself the lack of any wading birds despite there being lots of shoreline visible due to the drought conditions, when just past Queen's Bay I noticed a white bird on the edge of the shore, which proved to be a Little Egret when I raised my bins. They've been a bit thin on the ground this year, so it took me slightly by surprise. I decided I would walk round and try to get a little closer, but next time I looked, it wasn't there. Luckily as I scanned around I realised it was in flight and it flew past me and seemed to head off in the direction of Shaw Moss at around 09:15.
