Long-legged Buzzard, Bee-eaters, Red-rumped Swallows
Arrived at the hotel Aeolian Gaea late afternoon in 30°C sunshine, and had a little rest on the balcony looking south-east before heading out for a meal. Several Red-rumped Swallows could be seen in the distance, and after a short while, I could hear Bee-eaters calling. A bit of scanning revealed several flying distantly over the same area. Shortly afterwards I picked up a raptor soaring high to our right. It was a little against the light, but slowly came slightly nearer before drifting off out of site. It turned out to be a Long-legged Buzzard, and the only one of the trip, so quite fortunate!
