4 October 2016 - Hollingworth Lake

Sparrowhawk, Wigeon, Shoveler, Swallows

As I left for work this morning a Sparrowhawk flew low over the house and toward the field.

Scanning the Lake from the Car Park, I could see a small party of ducks.  Looking into the light I could tell one was a Shoveler by its profile but couldn't quite make out the others.  I drove round to the overflow and even though the light was still poor, I could just make out 5 Wigeon as well as the Shoveler.  (The Shoveler was a different one to the one I saw on the reserve yesterday - it had more colour).  Five Swallows were hawking over the water close to the overflow.
