Osprey, Greenshank
Today was a very grey, overcast day, but sometimes those are the best days! I stopped on Rakewood Road to scan over the reserve area and noticed that some of the gulls were getting rather vocal. I looked up and there was an Osprey overhead. It circled for a few minutes, sometimes hovering, and frequently being harassed by gulls and Carrion Crows.
A couple of times it looked as if it was moving away, but then reappeared, seemingly looking for something to eat perhaps, but eventually it flew off over Bear Hill in the direction of Littleborough and out of sight.
Then when I got to the reserve, the Greenshank that had been present yesterday was still around, although fairly distant at the rear of the reserve pool.
