Goosanders

Just about the only remotely interesting birds around lately have been the small numbers of Goosander, often feeding inside the boom that prevents flotsam being washed down the overflow on Rakewood Road.

Of course, typically it's early-ish in the morning when I'm there and they're usually in shadow.  They also have a habit of swimming away as soon as you get in range ...
