3 March 2022 - Hollingworth Lake

pair Goldeneye

Relatively mild, calm and overcast this morning; had a feeling of Kittiwake about it, but no luck unfortunately - probably slightly early.  In fact not much to see in terms of small birds apart from a few Bullfinch and Long-tailed Tits.

As I approached the Sea Cadets area along the straight wall, a pair of Goldeneye swam out from close to the bank, and the drake briefly came out with some display manoeuvres. After a while they suddenly took off and flew towards the far side of the lake out of view.  There wasn't much else to report after this, although on the reserve pool was a female Goldeneye.  I couldn't see the male, so I wasn't sure whether this was a different bird.

I've only included the Black-headed Gull and Pied Wagtail shots as I was trying out the centre focus option on the camera.  It was a bit too dull to gain any insights though.
