Painted Ladies, Small Skipper, Comma, Gatekeeper, Small White, Peacock etc. Very few birds.
Took the afternoon off work because a chap was coming to fix the window. As it was a nice sunny day (after yesterday's torrential rain) I decided to have a walk in the sunshine. There were loads of butterflies about, most noticeably Painted Ladies. I must have seen between 50 and 100 on my walk around the Lake and Shaw Moss. Other butterflies included lots of Meadow Brown, several Green-veined Whites, Small White, plenty of Small Tortoiseshell, a number of Small Skippers, one Gatekeeper, small Heath and one Comma at Shaw Moss, a couple of Peacocks and a single Red Admiral.
Birds included two male Kestrels near Turnough/Bib Knowl, and several Sand & House Martins on wires near Peanock farm.
