Barnacle Goose, 17 Wigeon & 4 Shoveler, Chiffchaff, Redwings
Message from Alan Nuttall this morning at 07:08 to say there were 4 Shoveler and 20 Wigeon on the Lake. I got there somewhat belatedly expecting them to be gone, and in fact they were flying around, but fortunately landed again, although I could only count 17 Wigeon. The Shoveler were all drakes though, which was nice. At the feeding point, a rather tame Barnacle Goose was with the Canadas and I didn't think much of it at the time, but it didn't stay much longer than a couple of days as it turned out.
As I walked around the far side I was able to get some reasonable footage of the Shoveler and Wigeon after a while. A Chiffchaff sang on the reserve and c.40 Redwings went over.
