Little Egret, Dunlin
Arrived at the hide this morning to find a Little Egret on the island just to the right. As soon as I sat down though, it flew out onto the exposed mud quite some distance away. I managed some somewhat blurred flight shots as it flew past, but these needed a bit of work to be worth publishing. Soon after, while scanning the Lapwings out on the mud I found a Dunlin, the first of the year. It was rather distant and the light was poor, so the photo isn't anything more than a record shot.
I carried on and reached the cafe and noticed a Little Egret on the bank at the end of the straight wall, feeding in the shallows. Presumably it was the same one, but it's possible there could have been two. I managed to get there and take a few shots before it was flushed by a dog, when it appeared to fly back round towards the reserve.
