13 Goosander, 1 f/imm Goldeneye, several Fieldfare, c. 50 Redwing, 2 Tufted Ducks
Misty this morning, c. 7°C. Quite calm, and at least 2 Song Thrushes were singing in the gloom. A pair of Tufted Duck and a couple of Teal were on the reserve. 13 Goosander were just offshore from the oveflow area.
By the scout hut, the recent female/immature Goldeneye was swimming away, and a drake Goosander was in the sheltered bay. As I reached Bib Knowl valley, I looked over the wall and could see a number of Redwings perched in the top of a tree. Closer examination revealed at least two Fieldfares, but I think there were a few more. The lighting wasn't very good for photographs, but that's nothing new.
I heard the Green Woodpecker yaffle once from Bear Hill/Syke area, and a few Long-tailed Tits fed in the bushes along the lake edge.
The lunchtime walk was very uneventful, with little else to report.
