Redstart, Little Owl, Common Darter, Speckled Wood
A pleasant walk around this morning in the sunshine was relatively quiet on the bird front. A nice surprise was a female/immature Redstart in the hedge along Turnough Lane - this spot seems to turn up Redstart on passage quite regularly. A little further on over the top of Turnough Hill, a Little Owl was sunning itself on a dry-stone wall. These have been rather thin on the ground locally in the last few years, so it's always good to see one.
In the relatively calm conditions there were a few insects about, including several Common Darter resting and flitting about the stone wall bordering Bib Knowl plantation. A couple of Speckled Wood were also in evidence in the same area.
