Spotted Flycatcher, Blackcap, Speckled Wood, Small White, Small Copper
It was another nice morning today so Joanne came with me on my walk. Almost the first bird we saw was a Spotted Flycatcher perched up in the 'big hedge'. I took a couple of quick shots but somehow managed to miss the focus, and when I tried to get a little closer, it had disappeared. A female Blackcap was feeding on Elder berries in the same area.
We met up with Gloria, so Joanne decided to go back the other way with her, and I carried on over Turnough to Shaw Moss. There wasn't much to see apart from the odd butterfly, but I did encounter my first Small Copper of the year at Shaw Moss; unfortunately it was a somewhat bedraggled individual, not the nice pristine specimen I was hoping for.
