Long-tailed Tits, 9 Goosander, f/imm Goldeneye, Herring Gull
Rather milder than of late, after overnight rain/wind. 7°C; overcast with some gaps in the clouds. Still pretty quiet on the water. At least 9 Goosander were just offshore from the overflow, though not inside the boom this morning. On the reserve, a first-cycle Herring Gull was perched on the same post as yesterday's Common Gull, and 5 or 6 Teal were at the back of the pool, asleep. At the far end of the straight wall above Bib Knowl Valley, a sizeable group (maybe 15 or 16) Long-tailed Tits were flitting amongst the Willows, and some actually sitting out in the open giving some brief photo-opportunities.
Later, there wasn't much else to report, though the Green Woodpecker yaffled once from an area seemingly at the top of Bear Hill, though it could have been in Syke Valley and the sound blown on the wind. A female Goosander was on the reserve but not offering much in the way of photography, though there was somebody else in the hide having a go.
