2 Rooks, Dipper, c.20 Siskin, Goosander, 2 Goldcrests

Cool, breezy, mostly overcast. 7°C.

I was up early so set off for my walk at 07:30 before it was properly light.  Two Rooks flew overhead in the gloom as I walked along Lake Bank; a scarce bird locally these days. As I proceeded along Rakewood Road, a Dipper flew high overhead in the direction of Littleborough. A Great Crested Grebe was new in, and when I reached the willow triangle, there was a good movement of small birds; Long-tailed Tits, 2 Goldcrests and Siskins.  Photography was a struggle because of the gloom, although the birds were fairly close.  Further round, a drake Goosander was on the water close to the reserve but was flushed by a rower and flew off towards Queen's Bay.
