Wigeon, Goldcrests, Sparrowhawk; Rook over house
Just as I set out for my morning dash around the lake today, a Rook flew over the house, calling, towards Akzo Pond. First I've had in the area for many months.
Near the reserve, a Sparrowhawk flew over then circled high overhead. Quite a few Teal still on the reserve, though the water level has risen with overnight rain. Two Goldcrests flitted past near the hide, and when I reached the wall overlooking Bib Kowl valley, I spotted a single female-type Wigeon out on the water.
Had a 'reverse' dash around the lake in my lunch break, but not too much extra to report. There were two Great Crested Grebes, and the Wigeon had found its way onto the reserve, feeding with around 40 Teal. A pair of Bullfinches were in the bushes by the reserve, and fairly good numbers of Common Gull were on the water, in the pre-roost gathering.
In the garden, the pair of Tree sparrows still present, 1 male Bullfinch and a single Reed Bunting.
