Common Scoter, Song Thrush, Reed Bunting
I was late getting to the Lake this morning, and Simon had already reported that a Common Scoter and 4 Wigeon were present. When I arrived, at first it seemed that all birds had gone, but I eventually located the Common Scoter fairly close to the Nature Reserve. It was a drake, as was the one a few days ago, and also behaved in a similar manner, staying as far from the shore as it's possible to be! I spent some time trying to get photos, but only managed distant record shots, rather like the previous occurrence. It did fly around at one point but I didn't have the camera set up for flight shots, so managed a couple of average photos.
Elsewhere, a nice Song Thrush perched in a bush by the path, but was partially obscured. I managed to get some reasonable shots through a gap in the foliage. A male Reed Bunting landed in a tree on the other side of the path but was rather elusive and didn't give itself up for photos.
