Wood Sandpiper, Wheatears, Pied Wagtails, Meadow Pipits
A Wood Sandpiper turned up yesterday at Blackstone Edge Reservoir so instead of walking around the Lake before work, I went looking for that. I did see it on three or four occasions, but it was incredibly elusive, and quite distant. The edge of the reservoir where it was feeding contained lots of exposed 'driftwood' and muddy tussocks, and it was feeding behind these for most of the time. It would appear for a few seconds, and was gone again before I could find it in the camera. There were a number of Wheatears and lots of Pied Wagtails and Meadow Pipits in the same area.
I went back at lunchtime for another try, but without luck, and I don't think it was seen subsequently.
