Great White Egret

Received a message from Andrew to say a Great White Egret had been seen at Shaw Moss, so I dropped everything and jumped on my bike with bins & camera.  When I arrived, there was no sign, and another message came through to say it had flown off in the direction of Birchinley, but may have come down in fields.  I went up a track at the rear of Birchinley cottages, and suddenly came across the bird standing in a field just the other side of a wall.  I crouched down to put the message out, but when I looked up again the bird had gone!  However, after wandering back to view over the Shaw Moss pools, I saw it again, in flight - it appeared to fly up from the stream which runs toward Milnrow.  Unfortunately it seemed then to fly away over in that direction, and I managed a couple of records shots, but further searches proved fruitless. The weather was rather dull and overcast.
