Moorhen, Grey Wagtail, Large Skipper, Speckled Wood

The run of hot sunny weather continues, so birding is still rather quiet. A Large Skipper was 'skipping' amongst the undergrowth by the side of the path and landed briefly on a Bramble flower but didn't pose very well before moving off again. A Speckled Wood was in the same spot as two days ago, but this time showed its upperwings. On the reserve, a Moorhen appeared to be sitting on the nest, behind an old freshwater mussel shell, the latter almost as big as the Moorhen itself.

As I reached the far side, along the shoreline by the long wall was a juv. Grey Wagtail, flitting between the stones on the shoreline.
