Grey Phalarope
News came through last night of a Grey Phalarope at Elton. Decided to go for it today, since I've been off work all week (the weather has been rubbish so not done a huge amount of birding). I went with Simon and Alan, and Andrew went by separate means. When we arrived the sun was shining and the phalarope was showing quite well just in the little bay in the NE corner. We were looking into the sun a little bit, but the bird performed nicely and we all managed to get some good views and reasonable photos I think. A nice bird to compare with the Red-necked we saw recently in Yorkshire. It was a bit of a rush job so we didn't spend much time looking for anything else, though we did see a male Blackcap in the car park.
