Coot, Lapwings, Oystercatcher, Common Sandpiper

When I arrived at the lake front this morning I saw a distant duck-like bird out on the water, but couldn't figure out what it was.  The light was against me and it seemed to be heading towards Queen's Bay, so I walked anticlockwise for a change.  It turned out to be a juvenile Coot. In the field just over Bib Knowl wall, there was a Lapwing with three newly-hatched chicks, which was nice to see.

Nothing much else happened until I reached the road, where an Oystercatcher had found one of the freshwater mussels and was trying its best to figure out how to get into it.  I sat by the roadside to photograph it and then noticed a Common Sandpiper in the same area. Unfortunately as I steadied myself to stand up, I put my hand in a pile of dog muck!
