c.20 Tufted Ducks, 3 Goldeneye, 1m Wigeon, Raven
A couple of trips round today; in the morning it was extremely dull and gloomy with slight drizzle. The two f/imm Goldeneye were present as usual, but there was an additional female, presumably adult, with yellow on the bill. Several Goosander were scattered around, including 5 (3 males) inside the boom at the overflow. When I got to the hide, there were a number of Tufted Ducks quite close, and a couple swam down the channel in front of the hide, offering good photo opportunities if only the light had been better (usual story!). There seemed to be still around 20, in groups on the reserve. A drake Wigeon was present in open water, and always distant
The pm trip was a little brighter, with pretty much the same ducks around, though the Tufteds weren't in front of the hide. Best bird of the day was a Raven, which flew over calling as I was in Pavilion Wood, not giving me chance to get any photos until it was going away in the distance.
