Killdeer, Bald Eagle, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Yellow-rumped Warblers, White-breasted Nuthatch, Mourning Doves, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Hooded Mergansers

Called at the Mouth of Power's Creek this morning, and 7 Killdeer were on the shallow water by the outflow. Also here were single Yellow-rumped Warbler, Song Sparrow, Ring-billed Gull and 4 Great Blue Herons. Offshore there were the usual 30 or so American Coot, along with 2 Horned Grebes and 2 Common Loons. As I looked back towards the road, I noticed an adult Bald Eagle perched in a tree and got some hasty snaps before it flew. Around 5 or 10 Brewer's Blackbirds were also in the vicinity.

The next venue was Kalamoir Park, where Brad told me was good for Great Horned Owl.  En route I stopped at the side of Boucherie road to scan the valley and was rewarded with 3 Red-tailed Hawks, 1 Mourning Dove, c.30 or 40 California Quail, 4 or 5 House Finch and a single Olive-sided Flycatcher.  Unfortunately the latter flew before I could get a photo.

At Kalamoir Park, Yellow-rumped Warblers seemed to be everywhere; at least 20 were seen, and around 10 or so House Finches were reasonably approachable. A couple of White-breasted Nuthatches were a lifer, although views were a little brief.  Also here were good numbers of Mourning Dove (c.20), California Quail (c.40), 2 Merlins, a Red-necked Grebe offshore, and a Song Sparrow.

Back at the Beach House, there were 6 or 7 Yellow-rumped Warblers in a conifer, and while checking them out I was rewarded with another lifer- a Ruby-crowned Kinglet.  Single Red-necked and Horned Grebes were offshore, and Steller's Jays were heard but not seen.

In the afternoon, We went into Kelowna and I was dropped off at Rotary Marsh while Joanne, Sandra and Jean went for a coffee.  Again there seemed to be Yellow-rumped warblers everywhere, at least 20 or 30.  Several Gadwalls were on the pools, and while scanning these, I realised there were two drake Hooded Mergansers also, which were a little elusive, but managed to photograph eventually.  A couple of Flickers and a Song Sparrow also offered photo opportunities while on the beach were 3-4 Ring-billed Gulls, and 2 Horned Grebes and a Common Loon were offshore.
