Up early and drove to Power's Creek, where I sat on a bench to scan the water birds and was surprised to find a fem/imm Harlequin Duck almost the closest bird.  Not realising the significance at the time, I filmed and photographed it anyway, and later spoke to Brad Vissia and James Jansen, only to find that neither of them had ever seen the species there!  A couple of Killdeer were on the beach and Horned and Western Grebes offshore with the American Coot flock. Two Song Sparrows skulked in the bushes along the point.  A Bald Eagle flew over (my firs) but was gone before I could get any decent shots. Getting closer to the road I saw bird activity on the fence and on closer inspection, this proved to be around 30 or so Brewer's Blackbirds. While snapping these, I scanned some bushes in the field and found an unmistakeable Yellow Warbler.

Moving on to Glen Canyon National Park, a walk through the trees and boardwalks revealed good numbers of Yellow-rumped Warblers (at least 20), along with one Townsend's Warbler and a Hutton's Vireo.  Also here were a couple of Pygmy Nuthatches and several Flickers, plus a Raven.

Back at the road, a scan across the escarpment near Glen Canyon revealed lots of hirundines, which turned out to be Violet-green Swallows.  A closer look at these revealed 4 or 5 Vaux's Swift among them; the only ones I saw on the trip.  Also here by the car park were a handful of House Finch and a Red-shafted Flicker.  I met a chap who said the Bald Eagle sometimes perched up in full view on a tree which he pointed out, so I decided to return later.

On my return in the afternoon, there was no sign of Bald Eagle, but a Red-tailed Hawk soared overhead and several Deer of some species fed in the park. At Power's Creek, an Osprey flew through, but nothing else of note other than the same species as in the morning.
