Redwings, Gadwall, 2 Goldcrest, Coal Tit, Treecreeper, Nuthatch, Great Crested Grebe, Grey Wagtail, Kestrel
Clear, then overcast; calm.
This morning seemed very quiet compared to recent events, but there were still a few interesting things to see. An imm. Great Crested Grebe was new in, and a Grey Wagtail fed on the marshy area near to the road, along with the white-winged Carrion Crow which was bathing in the stream.
The hide was full, but on the reserve I could see the drake Gadwall and several Teal. A few Redwings were around the holly trees in the big hedge, and I came across a couple of Goldcrests, one in the Pavilion wood and another at the bottom of Turnough Lane. where a Song Thrush popped up briefly. In the wood, a Treecreeper, a Nuthatch and a Coal Tit were the highlights.
Carrying on, it was pretty dead until I reached Shaw Moss, where a male Kestrel was perched up. It led me a bit of a merry dance but eventually allowed me to approach and view through the branches for a reasonable photo.
