Grey Heron, Swifts, House Martins, Swallows
This morning was quite overcast and this seemed to bring down the hirundines and Swifts. A good number of Swifts, Sand Martins and Swallows were hawking above the field and road just before the gate, but seemed to move on after a few minutes. From the hide, a Grey Heron was fishing just at the mouth of the channel and as I watched, speared a decent-sized fish, swallowing it whole without any problem. A pair of Canada Geese swam by with a gaggle of newly-hatched chicks.
Further round near the top of Bib Knowl, a couple of Swallows were hawking a little closer over the water, allowing for some photo opportunities, albeit at quite high ISO because of the light.
