Willow Tit, Treecreepers, Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Teal, Little Grebes, Wigeon, Buzzard, Linnets
Had a quick morning out to Lapwing Lane with Simon and Andrew, hoping for Lesser-spotted Woodpecker. The weather was bright and sunny, but rather a cold wind blowing. Unfortunately there was no sign of the target bird, but we did have a single Willow Tit at the feeding station. There were plenty of Treecreepers around, and a selection of other woodland species; a pair of Teal fed in the watery undergrowth near the track, and there were lots of Little Grebe on the main pool, along with a pair of Wigeon and a number of Tufted. Every so often a Buzzard would fly over, and we walked down a track towards the power station where a couple of Linnets sat up briefly in the trees by the path. A Comma butterfly fluttered near where we were standing waiting for the woodpecker, and on the way back to the car, Andrew spotted a Brimstone, which landed nearby and allowed a few photos.
