Chiffchaff, Skylark, Buzzard, Fieldfares, Meadow Pipits
My first spring migrant of the year today, a singing Chiffchaff in the willows by the track between the road and the hide. It was a dull day, and the bird was constantly on the move, so only managed a rather dull image. I walked up past Turnough Farm, where my first Skylark of the year sang distantly over the hill opposite, and a Buzzard appeared overhead, flying off towards the lake.
In Bib Knowl Valley, around 15 or 20 Fieldfare were perched in trees opposite, but were quite distant. At Shaw Moss, I eventually caught up with Meadow Pipit, a group of about 5 flying over, first for the year.
