3 Goldeneye, 10 Goosander, 15 Tufted Ducks
Calm, 1°C, overnight frost, some cloud then clearing to sunshine. The drake Goldeneye was present this morning, but no sign of the two female/immatures. Near the reserve there were now 15 Tufted Ducks, and scattered around at least 10 (possibly 13) Goosander. A handful of Redwings flew up from the leaf litter in Pavilion Wood. The edges of the lake had some thin ice, and a couple of Pied Wagtails were present close to the sunken path near the road.
In the afternoon, the drake Goldeneye was still present, and the additional two f/imms also were to be found, but none were any closer for photography than of late. The Tufted Ducks had broken into two groups, 10 on the water outside the reserve, and five on the reserve pool itself, where a pair of Teal were visible at the back. A group of three or four Goosander close to Rakewood Road as I returned were the only other highlights.
