Redpoll, Siskins
This morning was a little brighter, and as I approached the bend in the path where the Alders proliferate, I noticed a small bird land in a tree not far away. This proved to be a Lesser Redpoll, only my second of the year. It fed for a little while on the Alder catkins, then moved off. It was quite difficult to get a photo with its head in a decent position though.
A few yards further on, a group of 20 or 30 Siskins were feeding on the Alders to the left of the track. Again, although the light was a little better, they were usually partially obscured by branches in front.
