Red-tailed Hawks, American Kestrel, Black-billed Magpie, American Crows, Northern Harrier

Up early and packed ready to go, we headed over to the Westin Bayshore to pick up our hire car for the trip to Peachland. Just as we were about to leave Vancouver the weather improved and the sun came out!  A little early, so we had a bit of a stroll down the harbour front and came across some more Pelagic Cormorants and got some scenic shots. At the hire car place (Hertz), there was quite a wait, with several people in front of us, and by the time we got to the desk, there was apparently only one car left, so we had to have an upgrade - we ended up with a rather nice Mitsubishi Outlander.  Took a bit of getting used to what with left hand drive and all but a nice car to drive. We set off across country and soon got on the highway.  I thought it would be good to try a slightly less direct route (I was hoping to visit Vaseux Lake) but underestimated the distance and time to get there, so it took us the best part of 6 hours or so to get to Peachland.

Along the way, a few lifers and other birds - 2 or 3 Red-tailed Hawks, 2 American Kestrels, 1 Accipiter (Sharp-shinned or Coopers?) and several American Crows now that we've moved inland somewhat.  We stopped briefly at a parking spot near Manning Park, and a ringtail Northern Harrier flew across the road in front of us, but Joanne wasn't too happy about the route so we didn't delay much longer, and moved on to Peachland where Jean took us out to the local curry house in Westbank.
