This morning I walked down towards Latchi, where the Rollers had been on view yesterday. The light is against you from the road in the morning, so I circled round the far side of the field and was able to watch both birds on the wires and flitting back and forth, albeit distantly. A male Redstart was nearby briefly. On the way back I came across about a hundred or so Bee-eaters feeding overhead.
Around lunchtime we drove up to Smygies for a picnic, but birdlife was very quiet apart from a single Cretzschmar's Bunting which dropped into the tops of the trees briefly, though somewhat against the light.
In the late afternoon I went for a walk uphill from the villa and two Chukars flew across the road in front of me before disappearing into the scrub. A Sardinian Warbler sat up nicely on a stalk, and in the evening I heard Stone Curlews calling as well as Nightjars churring. Moth sightings included Crimson Speckled and Pale Shoulder, and a pair of Kestrels were flying around over the fields just down from the villa.
