Whinchat, Whitethroats, Sedge Warbler, Sparrowhawk, Common Sandpiper
Another pleasant sunny day today, but not too much to see around the Lake itself apart from a Sparrowhawk overhead and a Common Sandpiper. At Shaw Moss however, there were two Whitethroats flitting between the brambles, and highlight of the day, a female Whinchat out on the distant posts beyond the pools. It was a difficult one to photograph, always really distant and the heat haze was rather a problem, but a nice bird nonetheless.
Rather more obliging was a Dunnock which sat up nicely in the sunlight, showing what an underrated bird they are. A few Orange-tips were also around here, nectaring on the Cuckoo-flower.
