Snipe, Holly Blue, (Planets)
Another Snipe was visible from the hide this morning, but once again I was looking into bright sunlight. Mompha raschkiella mines are now starting to appear on the Rosebay Willowherb, and a small black fly with a white tip to the abdomen has defied identification. The best sighting I had was a Holly Blue butterfly which settled very briefly on some holly by the side of the track on the last stretch before the Beach Hotel. That's the first one I've seen in recent years apart from a couple of fly-bys over the garden.
The evening was warm and clear and I spent some time looking at celestial objects. There was almost a full moon, and the planets Jupiter (with several moons) and Saturn were visible, though I think it's fair to say the photos are record shots at best!
