12 January 2026 - Hollingworth Lake
Pair of Pintail briefly on the water at Hollingworth Lake, plus Great Black-backed Gull alongside Lesser Black-backed Gull and two fly-round Goldeneye
Not a bad morning today despite very overcast conditions (or maybe because of them). Two surprises - a pair of Pintail in mid water which sadly didn't stick around for too long - after a while they took off, circled round and then disappeared. A pair of Goldeneye circled around but didn't settle, and just as I was on the last leg of my circuit I noticed a Great Black-back on the water, conveniently in close proximity to a Lesser Black-back! All a bit distant and in rather dull light but good ones for the year.
