12 February 2026 - Hollingworth Lake
Two Oystercatchers back on the jetty at Hollingworth Lake, with two Shelduck overhead and yesterday's Mediterranean Gull still in Queens Bay

Still rather dull and overcast, but a nice indicator that Spring is on its way this morning, with two Oystercatchers on the Jetty by the car park. I walked around as usual, with only the usual suspects to see; a male Bullfinch was in the hedge by the road, and then I spotted two ducks flying around, which turned out to be Shelduck, though they didn't settle on the water and just appeared to gain height and disappear. As I reached Queens Bay, I scanned through the gulls on the water and picked out the same Mediterranean Gull I'd seen yesterday - it's quite easy to spot, since it's the only one with a black head.
