Kestrel, Fieldfare, Snipe
Overcast, clearing, 0°C. Another cold start, with heavy frost, it was overcast and misty to begin with but the sun was trying to break through. By the roadside near the reserve, a female Kestrel was perched in the top of a tree and stayed while I walked underneath. The light was really poor to begin with but I hung around for a little while as the sun gradually began to break through and eventually managed some reasonable shots. I was short on time though and had to get going before the sun really came out properly, which was a shame.
When I reached Pavilion Wood, I could hear a Fieldfare 'chak'-ing and eventually located it, perched high on top of a tree in the sunshine, which had now fully broken through. It was a bit distant, but quite nice to see. A single Snipe was also feeding on the reserve.
