A juvenile Great Crested Grebe was the highlight of today's birds.  The first one I've seen for a while. It was feeding close inshore near the road.

Alongside the track just after the gate I found an early instar Peacock Butterfly larva curled up in a slight spinning on a nettle leaf, and in the Pavilion Wood, a Nettle Tap (Anthophila fabriciana) was resting on its favourite foodplant.

Further round I came across an interesting spider in a slight orb web, which after some investigation looks to be possibly a Tetragnatha species, perhaps T. extensa.
