2 f/imm. Goldeneye, 2 m. Goosander, Coal Tit, Green Woodpecker (heard)
Overcast, clearing, 6°C, calm. Still very grey and oppressive, though it felt brighter in the morning. Two drake Goosander were near the reserve, and the two f/imm. Goldeneye present initially near the Scout hut, then by the SW corner. A Green Woodpecker was yaffling from the area to the left of the big hedge but couldn't be located. A Coal Tit was the first for the year (species No. 53), seen by the roadside with Long-tailed Tits in the morning and later by the hide. Two cock pheasants were visible in Bib Knowl valley; I've only seen females until now this year.
