c.8 Siskin, 2 Snipe, Gadwall, Wigeon
A cool and calm morning again, fairly bright, but with a bank of cloud in the North East keeping the bright sunshine at bay. A Grey Wagtail was on the shoreline close to the car park, and then little else until a female Bullfinch just before the gate by the stream. Around 4 or 5 Tufted Duck (there have been 6 present) were in the bay here, and the drake Gadwall was here too with Mallard.
Walking around the perimeter, I heard the unmistakable "tsee-oo" of Siskin and looking up, a small party of around 8 landed in the top of an Alder close by, giving reasonable views. A van appeared though and they flew off.
On the reserve a Wigeon was feeding with the Teal, and two Snipe were standing at the edge of the island. As I approached the hide, Kingfisher Pete was there, clicking away at the Kingfisher on a post just to the right of the hide. It flew off though when I entered.
A Jay flew across in Bib Knowl Valley, but little else then as I walked around until the far side where a couple of Great Crested Grebes were in Queens Bay and in gardens of the houses approaching the Beach Hotel, were a Goldcrest and a Coal Tit.
