Grey Heron, Northern Lights
Had a quick walk around the lake this morning; the sun was shining, but not too much to report. A Grey Heron flew past at close range but took me by surprise so I only managed to get one half-decent shot.
In the afternoon we drove down to Montgomery for Claudia and Owen's 'wedding eve', for a barbecue in the grounds of Garthmyl Hall. The weather was superb (as it was the next day for the wedding), but after getting back to the AirBnB and actually going to bed, we were woken by Sam who'd had a message about the Northern Lights. We went out into the darkness and found a spot where there was limited natural light and got some great Northern Lights experiences over the next half an hour or so. It wasn't so easy to see with the naked eye that the photos might suggest, but looking through the camera lens or phones seemed to bring out the colours quite noticeably.
The attached photos were long exposures (c 8 seconds) and adjusted for exposure and dehazed.
