Little Egret, Redstart, Buzzard, Kestrel
Had a good walk round this morning - very calm early on, with bright sunshine; later clouded over and a breeze got up. There seemed to be a hatch of Mayflies, and the Black-headed gulls were swooping low over the water creating photo opportunities with their reflections in the still water. The Little Egret was again on the mud, later flying closer to the road.
A couple of Dunlin and Common Sand were on the reserve, but otherwise fairly quiet. I decided to have a stab at the Redstart, which was present in its usual spot, singing quite happily. As I walked along Rakewood Road, a Kestrel appeared overhead, shortly followed by a Buzzard which flew across the lake towards Syke. These have been a bit thin on the ground lately.
